    Ivanhoe Mines

    A world-renowned mining company

    During 2018 - 2019, CITIC Metal completed two separate share subscriptions in the world-renowned mining company Ivanhoe Mines Ltd., becoming its single largest shareholder. As of June 30, 2025, CITIC Metal held a 22.30% stake in Ivanhoe Mines.

    Ivanhoe Mines, established in 1993, is an internationally renowned mineral exploration and development company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. It was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in October 2012 (TSX: IVN). Ivanhoe Mines owns three world-class mining assets with exceptional resource endowments: the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (39.6% interest), the Kipushi Zinc Mine (68% interest), and the Platreef PGM-Nickel Mine in South Africa (64% interest).

    The implementation of this project contributes to securing a stable supply of copper materials essential for national economic development. It clearly demonstrates CITIC’s commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative, is an important measure in fulfilling the China-Africa Development Strategy, and represents a key focus of CITIC’s strategy for balanced development between its financial and non-financial sectors.

    Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex: It is one of the world’s fastest-growing and highest-grade super-large copper mines, with proven retained copper resources of 43.12 million tonnes at an average grade of 2.54%. Phases 1, 2 and 3 of the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex have been completed and put into production. In 2024, the mine produced a record 437,000 tonnes of copper throughout the year. In the first three quarters of 2025, the copper-in-concentrate production amounted to over 310,000 tonnes, a year-on-year growth of 31%.

    Kipushi Zinc Mine: The Kipushi Zinc Mine is a large, ultra-high-grade zinc mine in operation, with an average ore grade of 36.4% during the first five years of production.

    Platreef PGM Polymetal Mine: It represents one of the world's largest undeveloped precious metals projects, with the Phase 1 concentrator scheduled to be put into production in November 2025.
